Article writing is truly an efficient way to reach out to your potential market. An article that is original and informative in content will surely bring about a positive response. However, it doesn’t end with just writing your article.

If you’re submitting your articles to article submission directories, it is very important to include a resource box at the end of each of your article. What is a resource box? It provides a short but relevant information about the author. It is your lead in inviting people to your website and check out more of what you have to offer.

Let’s consider the things that you should not forget to include in your resource box.

Your Full Name. Of course, you want people to know you. If you have a personal title or a degree, don’t forget to use it as well. Providing your full name will strengthen your credibility as a person.

URL to your website. This is probably the most important thing in the resource box. If you forget to include your website address, where can they find you? You don’t want to give your readers a hard time looking for your website in the internet. Even if they liked what they read so much, people just don’t have the time for that and very few will go out of their way just to know if you have a website.

A short message. This is called your Unique Selling Proposition. What more do you have to offer? Why should they check you out? How can they benefit from visiting your website? Your message has to be short, clear, convincing and captivating.

Contact Information. You can provide your business address, telephone number, fax number or e-mail address where people can reach you. If people have any inquiries, they can use this information to contact you.

A link to your newsletter subscription. If you’re offering newsletters, you can also add the URL for your newsletter subscription page. This way, they can just click on the link and sign up for your newsletter if they want to.

The last two information is optional. It is up to you if you would like to include them or not. Now that we’ve discussed the possible contents of your resource box, here are the things that should NEVER be found in your resource box:

Addresses of different websites you own. Don’t flood your resource box with too many website addresses. This will only turn off people and they would likely not click on any of your links at all.

A List of your Achievements. Your resource box is not the place to brag about your achievements or narrate your autobiography. Don’t drive away people by providing excessive information that may annoy them.

Advertisements. You don’t have to do your actual selling in your resource box. It should only be a lead to your business website. Your readers will know all about your products and services once they go to your website. Again, don’t drive them away by selling stuff prematurely.
